I Had a Mail Delivery of . . .
« on: July 06, 2017, 01:07:40 PM »

A brand new ZyXEL VMG1312-B10A and just plugging it in has given me an extra 5 meg sync, gone up from the TP-Link 64/17 to 71/17. Dunno if its a fluke but I am pleased with the extra 5 meg.

Very easy to upgrade and quite quick to load the firmware although password had to be reset so am assuming factory defaults when upgraded. Very easy to setup including bridge mode and setting DHCP off with new LAN address of 192.168.2.10 and getting stats was easy too just selected the model in DSLStats and popped the address in with the password and all sorted. Very quick setup.

Thanks to Kitz for recommending this router. :)

It is was never very good at maths. :D

Also, the wifi seems nice and stable, no packet loss on 1-hour ping test unlike the TP-Link (40% loss) and Billion (4% loss). Very pleased so far and no DS ES with the increase in sync.

I concur, very stable even with my sub-3db SRNM. My current up-times are 94 & 79 days for my lines.  :)

I must admit that I shared Michael's bemusement . . . and I took the liberty in adjusting this thread's subject line so that it is now more meaningful, whilst maintaining the original sentiment.

Thanks Mr B*kat I was just thinking snappy title but it is a bit non-descriptive.

Also as a side now looking at MWDS my FEC/min has gone from 6-700/min to the low 20s/min with the ZyXEL despite the increased sync. Pleased with this little modem's performance all round. :)

A brand new ZyXEL VMG1312-B10A . . .

Would you be willing to disclose the price you paid and the vendor, on eBay, from whom you made the purchase, please?  :-\

You have to ask what's meant by "refurbished" in this context. I would be amazed if it's any more than a wipe over with a damp cloth and maybe an ethernet cable and a filter to complete the kit.

Thank you.

I am aware of one source -- the A&A Shop, at £60. They would require clearing of the ROM-D to remove the A&A customisation.
