A brief history of a long line

Crickers:
It's been a while....... Way back in 2013 had some issues with an upgrade from ADSL to FTTC.

Here's 4 years worth of speedtest data, you can see it's not been an easy ride speed gradually decreasing from 5Mbps

After a very recent change of ISP to Plusnet and using the Hub One (I know what was I thinking) ended up with approx 2.7Mbps.

Anyway Plusnet found a fault on line and after engineer visit where his JDSU sync'd at 5.7Mbps, I've gone back to using the HG612 and seem to be syncing around 4.7Mbps

Plusnet are sending me a new Hub One, but pretty sure it won't make a difference and I'll continue using the HG612

Here's the current stats for today, I wonder if anyone would like to pass comment.

burakkucat:
Without going into the back history, I'll say that looks like a very sad connection.  :(

In terms of synchronisation speed, your G.993.2 (VDSL2) service is achieving similar to that of my G.992.3 (ADSL2) service!

Do you know with, any degree of certainty, the length of your D-side?

Crickers:
I believe it's around 2.6km.

What's your distance burakkucat? I'm now wondering if I would benefit downgrading to ADSL2

burakkucat:
For my line, the distance to the exchange is around 1.5 miles (2.4 km).

Crickers:
I ordered a 50cm RJ45 to RJ11 Cat6 cable from mr..telephone which was waiting when I arrived home this evening.

Can you tell what time I replaced the regular cable with it?

It seems to have made a small but noticeable step in the right direction.

Also there is a difference in Hlog between cables.

Will now wait and see if the stats look any better over the next few days.
