EE BrightBox 2 - enabling local DNS

Just started with EE this morning but I'm having trouble with getting local DNS to work. I can see the DHCP registered clients on the status page of the BrightBox 2 they provided but they are apparently unknown by the internal DNS server. It looks like the router's DNS server only forwards to the outside and doesn't lookup its own host map. It's the first router I've come across that doesn't do local DNS. Is there any way to turn this on?

Hmm . . .

I have not had any experiences with the EE BrightBox devices so I am unable to help. I wonder if N*Star knows the answer?  :-\

Apart from changing the DNS to googles public DNS on the BB2 sorry no help here.

I see someone on youf-tube has a teardown of the BrightBox 2 and located the UART pins . I might have a grub around with telnet and see if I can spot any obvious CRIPPLE_LOCAL_DNS_BECAUSE_NO_ONE_WOULD_EVER_WANT_THAT=1 setting that can be tweaked.
