Modem/Router for a Vodafone Broadband Service
« on: June 04, 2017, 10:53:08 AM »

[Moderator note: These posts have been split off the Vodafone (Huawei) HHG2500 thread.]

Question if I may

Would the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 modem/router work on Vodafone with provided username/password ?

Yeah will work fine. I have the Netgear D6400, an older model, which with the latest firmware has an option for Vodafone in the VDSL setup page.

Many thanks is the router I mention a decent one ? I've had a look around and it seems to be around the £130 Mark is there any better alternatives at around that price ?

Go easy I'm a complete novice lol

Not used that router personally, but it's feature packed and looks like the wifi range is good. It's lightyears ahead of any isp provided router.
In my opinion you don't need to change that router at all.

Ok looked at that router and decided it was to big so ended up going for a TP-Link Archer VR600.

I've setup and everything seems to be working fine however Wi-Fi throughput seems slow. My line is synced at 79/20 and when holding my phone (Galaxy S8) right over the router it reports 866 mbps however I'm struggling to get above 40-45 mb on numerous servers on speed test I've tried iPads and a laptop and sadly all seem to be reporting the same.

As I say I'm a newbie to all this so any advice would be greatly welcomed.
