Exploding headphones on flight

"Most likely" caused by a lithium-ion battery, they say.

Must confess I do have a cheap set of noise-cancelling headphones that I take on flights, and I wear them even when trying to sleep as they reduce a lot of unwelcome engine roar and cabin noise.  But mine are powered by a single disposable AAA which, I like to think, is a little bit less volatile than the lithium ion family, and would do a lot less damage even if things went wrong.

A odd amount of the occurrences seems to be on flights tho, I wonder if they more prone to exploding when under low air pressure, even tho cabin's are pressurised they still not the same air pressure as been on the ground.
