Wow.  Unbelievable!

Teamviewer is genuinely used by so many people for good use and they block it completely. ::) I should imagine there would be a fair few businesses unable to work and carry out genuine business whilst the block was on.

They were trying to do the right thing apparently. But this is not a good idea seeing as people have paid for 100% internet access, not 99.9999%. I would be wanting a refund.

I can see "it" from both sides but, overall, it does appear to be an over-nanny-ing effort on TT's part.

I can definitely see both sides of it, it would protect many people, and no malice was intended but they need to get consent as they don't have the right to deprive users of the service they have paid for. I wonder if there might be a way to exclude business users. What should have happened was that they should have got in touch with their customers before doing anything.

Having said all that, I can't say that I wouldn't have ordered the blocking myself if I were in charge.

Two salient points from the comments on The Register:

Where did the scammers get the customers' numbers?

all they needed to do was to send out a notification by email/post stating due to excessive levels of fraud they want to add teamspeak to their safe surfing firewall, and for those who want access they can toggle the setting.

I think that would have been accepted.

But instead they just did a brute force block.

By that logic you should ban credit cards and paypal etc.   It's not Teamviewer that took their money.
