As the crow flies its property is 200 yards from the cabinet.

Any idea what these figures tell us? I can see that it's a B connection and it's impacted, anyone help with what that means in lay terms?

So onto my question.. does it matter what build cabinet you are connected to? Huawei or ECI?

Huawei is definitely better, especially if you have a noisy line.

Your screen shot shows a maximum estimated speed of 47 Mbps,  so your line must be around 500 meters long. You may get more or less.

Range A is for a clean line with no wiring problems, range B is if you have bad wiring basically. Most ISP'S quote the impacted range in estimates for obvious reasons.

Don't use the straight line approach use the road as the path from your premises to the FTTC cabinet and also look for marked BT manhole covers these are the joints all the way to your PCP cabinet.

I can see that it's a B connection . . .

Huh?  ???  How?

I think you have misunderstood the sentence, which uses Ofcom's archaic definition, that "This line is on a Market B Exchange." That has nothing to do with the line status of being either "Clean" or "Impacted".

I can't even remember how i worked that out.

Seems to be up and running, speeds varying between 28-33mb download and 8-9mb upload. The only downside is that i can't seem to use my TP-Link Router, i have to use the ZyXel one from Zen and the wi-fi is terrible on it in terms of distance.

That's certainly not what I was expecting.  :(

Perhaps if you were to disclose the model number of both devices, the TP-Link and the ZyXEL, someone might be able to assist you.

Okay been up and running with this FTTC palava for a couple of weeks now.

Whilst the speeds are generally less than what was quoted by both OpenReach and Zen (typically 35mb download / 6.9mb upload), it's still around 40x faster than my original speeds of around 0.5mb :)

The TP-Link router was a dud, so been running with the ZyXel VMG1312-B10D, the wifi reach on it seems poor but its doing a job for the time-being.

I still feel that my line is a poor one though. Here's the stats from the Zyxel, i've read the guides and have a rough idea of what i'm looking at (apart from error things), but what i wouldn't mind an answer to (as i have no real benchmark) is that are these figures comparable to a 'decent' line and what sort of speeds would you expect?

Off on another tangent, this forum has a wealth of knowledge in a World that i barely knew existed. Was reading on another thread about the telephony and wiring on old properties and was truly enlightening!
