FTTH connection
« on: March 12, 2017, 06:32:16 PM »

Hi all.  With a new FTTH connection does anyone know if you still get an external CSP or if in the case of the newer connectorized FTTH is it connected straight from the pole to the internal fibre modem. just trying to get ready for what I hope will be FTTH judging by the small notices on nearby fences mentioning new" fibre/broadband poles with attachments"

I suspect it will really depend upon who (personnel) and what (stores equipment) is available when the installation finally "comes to pass".

If the service option becomes available in your area then by not being the first person to take the service may prove to be a wise choice.  :D

The two installation methods (connectorized vs BFT manifolds) have wildly different equipment between the splitter node and the homes - and even the splitters might vary. I'm pretty sure your house will get the setup that matches the setup in the wider area.

The older manifold installation comes with a CSP. The newer connectorised installation will not.

However, even if your area is a "new" installation, I'm not sure that BT have fully switched over to connectorised yet.

I share your uncertainty.
