capital one reissuing cards?
« on: February 27, 2017, 11:21:03 AM »

Curious if anyone on here who has a capital one card has had it reissued in the last month.

Both my cards got reissued with a very vague reasoning been "to protect the security of your payments".

Both cards have kept the same 16 digit number but have new 3 digit authorisation codes.  The second card I dont even use yet still got reissued.

My speculation is they have had a security breach.

Hi chrysalis

Yes, I have had Capitol 1 for a few years, and not been reissued as yet

Interestingly though, you mention security breach, as a kernel vulnerability has been found in Linux kernel, which allowed elevation of priverlidges on non root accounts.

Also, sha1 has been compromised in a real life test

Many thanks
