Strange Stats After Resynch
« on: February 21, 2017, 07:46:24 PM »

This post may be in the wrong place because the only issue is my confusion.

My line had a DLM initiated resynch last night.  After that I have lower U\S and D\S SNRM
Higher D\S Synch
Higher U\S and D\S attainable than before.

I can’t understand how when my U\S was at max the SNRM can decrease but the attainable increase.

If anyone is interested in taking a look my stats are on mydslwebstats.

Going from an SNRM of 6.2dB to 4.7dB which is a very odd value and also the upstream SNRM has changed though the time it occurred after midnight always make me think of BT exchange maintenance but that's normally down for two hours.

There is only one way to be sure a quick re-sync will show if it's one of those good crosstalk syncs of something other  :-\

Hi NS

The resynch alert from mydslwebstats said  - Reason: 1 Remote Defect Indicator/DLM.

Unfortunately I’m working away from home so no quick resynch until the weekend.

Is it possible he has been put on one of the new  lower snr profiles.  What exchange are you on please?

Well that starts of at 5dB then 4dB and finally 3dB the upstream SNRM is not effected and pooclahs did change a bit and the attainable sync is lower than the sync.

This is quite a strange 1 to be honest. Your attenuation has dropped a tiny bit, and both Ds and Us Sync/Attainable have climbed.

Can you check the vectoring status of your cabinet? That's something MDWS can't show.
If it's not vectoring then it could be a bad crosstalker is on holiday or has ceased their service. Any neighbours on holiday or moved/moving?

Hi j0hn

I’ll ask the wife about neighbours when I ring her later.
I won’t be able to check the modem for vectoring state until I’m home at the weekend.

It’s mostly the changes in U\S stats that don’t make sense to me at the moment

How do you check that?

Although my exchange is not listed, my line has the same obsession with lowering SRNM down past 4db, this is 4 days after last re sync because of falling srnm.
I'm on an ECI exchange  :( , had 17crc's in last 15 mins, this means i'm going to get kicked off again >:D.
Line currently at 54467Kbits/s down 16647 up.

Resync at 00:30 last night myself. I've a 8924 so fairly slow to resync compared to other modems. Look to have a 4dB target on upsream and 5dB on downstream??

For the last year I've been solid at about 18MBit upload, 59MBit download sync on 6dB SNR which stays stable.

VDSL Port Details       Upstream         Downstream
Line Rate:     20.063 Mbps       62.974 Mbps
Actual Net Data Rate:     19.999 Mbps       62.975 Mbps
          Trellis Coding:         ON                ON
SNR Margin:        4.0 dB            5.1 dB
Actual Delay:          0 ms              0 ms
Transmit Power:        7.4 dBm          12.5 dBm
Receive Power:       -5.1 dBm          -8.0 dBm
Actual INP:        0.0 symbols      49.0 symbols
Total Attenuation:        0.0 dB          17.9 dB
Attainable Net Data Rate:     20.759 Mbps       60.058 Mbps

Edit: seem to have some upstream ES building (35 in 19 hours); does DLM monitor upstream?

Interesting.  What exchange are you on and do you know what type of cabinet you are connected to?
