I am wondering about the possibility of a hosted service or some software that will repeatedly ping an IP address and configureably report n successive non-responses as an alert. Alert by email. (AA do an alert by Twitter [but most of the time it doesn’t seem to work for me at the moment] which is really nice, and by SMS)
I know that Firebrick makes a box that can do this, and Thinkbroadband uses it iirc.
But I’m wondering if I could get some of my own IPs monitored with this kind of technology.
If I could find some software that does this then I could run it on my hosted (external) Raspberry Pi. Would need to speak IPv6 in that case tho. Writing my own thing would be a pain at the moment.
Or else a hosted system, a server that does this.
I have seen lots of things on the web about software for this, got rather lost.
