Expanding hard wired lan again..

Hi folks.
Just wanted to check if there is any issue with expanding my hard wired lan by adding a switch on to the end of a single link (cat5e gigabit) connected to an identical switch. If we can do it this way it will save taking the floor up again....knew I should of added more capacity the first time..
Layout simplified goes...
Modem>pfsense box>rt-ac88u (wap) > direct link to switch one (garage office room)
Add second switch by using one link already in place from switch 1(gigabit)
3 devices running from switch 2 in total
If it's not an issue then will go ahead as would prefer to not have to get the floor up again to get those 2 extra lines back to switch 1
Many thanks

Your proposal, assuming I have read and interpreted it correctly, is perfectly do-able. I can see no problems.

Great, thanks. I suppose my concern was having my routers switch to a switch to a switch. They are all gigabit though so hopefully that helps..

I already use such an arrangement, with a main switch near the router and a secondary switch serving the television, stereo, etc in another room.

Yep - same setup here.
I think of it as a gigabit backbone running from point to point.
It does mean that you have a 'trunk' which will see more traffic than other links, but you'll be going some to saturate it.
(seems like a good time to post the LAN diagram I've been playing with. lucidchart.com is really quite nifty!)
