Texting conumdrum
« on: December 26, 2016, 02:19:05 PM »

My daughter's husband has a brother, who lives and works in Europe. My daughter uses Vodaphone for her mobile connection, her husband Windows phone (employer decision). Generally all is OK. They can make and receive calls with the brother. but for some strange reason my son-i-l never receives texts sent by his brother. My daughter does.

It all seems an illogical mystery. My suggestion that the texts had been intercepted by GCHQ nearly lost me my portion of Christmas Cake. ;D

Ideas anyone?

I wonder if the Windows phone is also on a company contract which could well have restrictions which a normal contract does not have, and therefore prevents texts from overseas networks from arriving?

Many years ago when I had a company mobile phone it was not directly on the public network but was an extension on our company network and I had to dial 9 to get an outside line!

That was thought of, but why limit the restriction to text, but allow voice?

Hi

I might think of text blocking as the reason or perhaps, if the sender of the text is using iPhone, they maybe using iMessage which the Microsoft phone may not use

Of course I could be wrong, as you have not stated what the other 2 mobiles are, so I apologise in advance

Many thanks

John

2 years ago I had a similar experience with my Windows phone but then got around the problem by installing one of the texting apps from the windows store, actually I think it even merged with the original install and also allowed that to then function correctly
