What's this they're pushing?
« on: October 23, 2016, 07:36:03 PM »

This ad appears frequently in newspapers and the like.
Being naturally suspicious, I certainly would not go with easily with pushed items, especially where security is concerned.

I wonder how many (outwith this forum) would though. I hope they are not falling for something of doubtful quality.

And on linenewspapers would you trust such ads, that are pushed so?

Why does the article you linked refer to you having a Linux computer, yet the software appears to be for Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone?

I hadn't spotted that. BTW that was the link that came from clicking on the original ad. I'll try and find the ad, but they come up as and when, so might be a wait.

I doubt whether there's anything seriously malicious or illegal.

Comparable to the adverts for 'X-Ray spectacles' that used to appear in American comics in my childhood.   They'd make a few bucks from anybody who's Mum & Dad were stupid enough to purchase, but no serious harm done other than a pair of spectacles comprised of bits of cardboard with spiral lines drawn on them.

I always wanted these X-Ray spectacles mind, I think went into a strop for weeks after Mum said 'No'. :D
