Hi Peter

I use emclient a lot and am even a beta tester

The error is the error message, and your setting will be wrong I believe

Have you tried pop instead of IMAP

I would check your BT account settings for IMAP server, username and password, to make sure there correct

Lastly, depending upon which antivirus program your using, the error could relate to antivirus, as some use the mail settings, so you may need to check your antivirus for email settings

Lastly, it is never a good idea to publicly advertise your email address

Many thanks

John

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try to use that with my limited expertise.

I realised my mistake as soon as I posted the attachment.

Well I've given up on that one, after looking through the forum for em client I found lots of others with the same problem, may try again in a week or three.

Have you tried Claws mail as a replacement for WLM.

BT settings for IMAP are port 993 using SSL username is full email address and SMTP is 465 using SSL and clear text authentication username is full email address mail server is mail.btinternet.com for both incoming and outgoing.

Just set up a test account OK on BTinternet using IMAP. You need to set the account up as 'other' and complete the settings manually.

I've finally got Claws running, thanks to my son yet again.  However I don't like to have to enter a password for every session, can I remove this option please? If so how, in simple terms please.

Click on Configuration > Edit Accounts > select account you wish to edit > Edit > Basic  Enter password and click Apply. Go to Send, enter password and click apply. The password should then be saved.

Encouraged by our success with Claws I thought I'd try eMclient again and things looked good untill the attached message popped up, I now have the licence key but haven't a clue where to put it, even after searching the forums and FAQs, ( Which I find hard to read due to pastel shades of fonts on white backgrounds, I'm fast approaching my 80s )

Sorry to be a pest on this but your help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Peter

Just use 'ThunderBird'  https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/thunderbird/
It's a lot better email browser.
I use it for my 'hotmail' email account with no problems.

:graduate: Eureka! I now have eMclient working, thanks to this group.  this maybe a 'so what moment' to you clever chaps but to an old IT semi-literate like me it is a major event, so may thamks all.

Now then, is it possible to remove duplicated contacts from a very long list?

Regards,

Peter   :fingers:
