Interleaved line - Need some assistance with possible cause
« on: September 05, 2016, 04:07:32 PM »

My grandparent's ADSL2+ line is for some reason interleaved and I am not sure of the reason why. The username for the line is AGF123 on MDWS, and there will only be about 1-2 hours of stats as I don't have anything that can do constant logging. If you want, compare it to my line stats on the username NEXUS2345, as those are stable with a very high sync.

It could be due to the use of an Asus modem router, but I have now replaced that with an HG612 and TP-Link router. They were on TalkTalk as well, but I have now moved them to Uno to gain some more fine grained control.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
NEXUS2345.

It is hard to say once interleaving has occurred. If it is a TTB line with uno you should have control of the line profile yourself by logging in and be able to set interleaving off and a srrm of 6.  Either way uno should be able to set it to fast path and a  normal target snrm of 6.  You will then be able to see what the error rates are and whether interleaving or a higher snrm is needed is actually needed for stability.

The thing that strikes me is the 12dB noise margin, do you think the line might have suffered from a high error rate? Or maybe does so overnight or something.  If you can't leave DSL Stats logging then maybe have a look on the router at errored seconds accumulated over various times, for example overnight.

The line suffered a lightning strike about a year ago now. It struck the distribution box on the telephone pole and fried the last modem which we subsequently replaced with the same model. BT did not however replace the drop wires, leading to me being suspicious of it.

I am requesting that Uno perform a line test once BTOR give them access.

Ok, I have had Uno perform the line test, and they confirmed my suspicion that there is a fault. However it appears to be an internal wiring fault, which I would tend to agree with as the master socket was installed in most likely the 50s/60s.

Here are the test results:

A Rectified Loop has been detected. Loops are most likely to be caused by wiring or equipment at the customer property. Please ask the EU to remove all CPE and retest.
