Debate on AAISP deals and tariffs etc
« on: September 03, 2016, 04:12:50 PM »

The lack of a normal voice service is quite restrictive for many people.  I would have moved to them rather than to uno but for that.  If you want to keep a voice line and move to aaisp you have to pay for a second line or first get a phone only service with no internet and then when that is working order with aaisp.  With one line the resulting split responsibilities then may also  hinder aaisp's service.

@les-70 True enough. You don't even have to install VoIP kit though. They should publicise this. If you go with their VoIP system you can just redirect incoming calls to your mobile, so that might be good enough for some people, as this is what I've used. I have VoIP kit, I have been too lazy and (unwell, excuse  :-[ ) to really thrash-test it properly under heavy load in both directions.

@les-70 if you leave your POTS service with someone else, then AA as you say won't be able to support you, it will defeat a lot of the object and indeed you'll be in a split responsibility, buck-passing triangle nightmare between POTS-provider X, AA and BT.

AA need more clarity, more info in summary+tabular form about their offerings, and a plan to sort out the voice thing for that segment of possible potential customers. The good and bad thing is that they don't seem to have a marketing/farketing department, they're just a highly technical company only, which is great as they're not full of cac, but not great as these issues for less-dedicated and different-shaped new customers don't get addressed. And they also don't have any maintenance on their website. They're tiny, and have plenty on their plate. Being tiny is fantastic for us as you can know everyone, they are not impersonal, but they are overloaded.

They would be a good fit for many kitizens who are highly technical, care about directness and honesty, are clued-up about the Internet access world, and don't put up with bull.

Just found out that home::1 has two unpublished intermediate tariffs for people who may go over 100GB but won't get near 200GB. They are 125GB and 150GB with pricing pitched appropriately between.
