Upstream target SNRM on ADSL2
« on: August 11, 2016, 12:50:11 AM »

I'm on BTW 21CN / ADSL2, which is, as many of you will know, delivered by Andrews & Arnold (aa.net.uk). I can set my downstream target SNRM to whatever I want, including 3 dB or 6dB, using the controls in clueless.aa.net.uk. However, my only options for upstream target SNRM are 6 dB or 9 dB (the latter available to ADSL2/2+ users only).

Is there some reason why I can't have 3 dB for upstream?

What about services other than BT? TalkTalk wholesale for example?

Theres no physical reason why not when it comes to the technology.  I used to have upstream target SNRm of 3dB on BE*.
It depends upon the SP who owns the DSLAM/MSAN as to how they configure it.   I believe TTB do have a 3dB profile for AAISP but Im not sure if that includes upstream.
