DSLstats pre-release version 5.8.4
« on: August 10, 2016, 04:44:02 PM »

Several small improvements requested by users:

- increased the telnet timeout, to try to deal with occasional modem slowness to respond
- added an option to enter a custom command prefix in the login configuration
- the timing of snapshots can now be optionally set to a specific time sequence
- saving the stats summary text now saves the correct data
- removed unneeded event log entry for saving attenuation log text

Thanks Eric, I much appreciate these update, but sorry to report the following minor problem.

Configuration > Snapshots
When I click the radio button "Take first snapshot of the day at:" I get the error message.

"24:0:0:0 is not a valid time specification."
( the default time setting is 0:0 )

Click "cancel" and it crashes.

Looks like this only happens when "Take auto snapshot every" is set to 24.
I only need one snapshot per day. Is 24 hours not a valid setting?

I just tried mine on W7 and I am unable to set 24 as the time using the spin buttons. This in my view is correct as on the 24hr clock 24:00 is technically incorrect (as is 00:00), it should be either 23:59 or 00:01. However setting it to 00:00 does not crash it for me. Is there something else I need to do to make it crash, all I did was set the radio button and switch back to the event log.

@Stuart: the issue shows up when the "Take auto snapshots every" value is set to 24 hours. It's not referring to the time of the first snapshot, which quite correctly limits the times to valid values.

I've taken a first look at this, and I agree with you both. I'll fix it ASAP, but if you click on "OK" when you see the error message, DSLstats continues working with no loss of data. I realise that you may not want to do this, and I'll come back as soon as I can.

Happy to report no more timeouts since updating on 10th Aug.  :)

My apologies Eric, I obviously mis-read the original bug report.

Eric I am still seeing telnet timeouts on my VMG8924, only two so far, both were when I started DSLStats within a minute of each other getting f/w version. None since.

Stuart, I'm not sure that I can increase the telnet timeout any further because it cuts into the time window for  uploading to MDWS. I suppose I could make it an option, but frankly there are already far too many options. If it's OK with you, I'd like to leave it where it is unless it becomes a frequent issue.
