Living on the 'better' side of the Lancashire/Yorkshire border, as I do (i.e. in Lancashire), I think the first example in this link confirms the pronunciation as I hear it locally:-

The prices do seem rather high for Yorkshiremen with traditionally deep pockets & short arms though.

Another commonly heard phrase that just came to mind when describing Yorkshiremen in a friendly manner is:-

"Yorkshire Born, Yorkshire Bred, Strong in't arm and thick in't head"

The phrase I've often heard is "A Yorkshire man is a Scotsman with the generosity wrung out of him!"  ;) ;) ;) Says he with Scots blood in him generations back. I've also heard it the other way round!

To interrupt this paean,  research by my wife (born and brought up a few miles from Kitz) traces the centuries long migration of a prolific  Lancashire family from The Isle of Wight's South coast  .  You couldn't start much further south !

You're probably correct, the Scots have invented a lot more useful stuff than the English.   :P  :P
