PN run the "Free" offer every now and then around bank holiday / Black Friday.

@UncleUB

PN will drive you up the wall if your used to the "aa" way of doing things especially for faults.

Least SSE's £12pm*  line & broadband has shaken things up finally........

*{ Uk calls centre(s) - BT Backhaul - Single static ip option - usual downside of arbors to shape/throttle if the network is out of balance ---- Although VPN ports are classed the same as VoIP "titanium" ;)  }

Has anyone used them and if so what is support like please? I want to put ADSL on a spare line in here at as little cost as possible, and 2 years is a great offer...

for the interested the maths for my deal in 2014 was.

£150 cashback.
6 months half price (of the broadband element not line rental).
Waived £50 fee.

So cost over contract approx £150 excluding line rental

This deal which has been tinkered with for the same package is approx £294 excluding line rental (also assuming no setup fees) (I think) was quick fast calculation. :)

no idea, but if its just for a backup line then its probably worth a punt.

Maybe call sse's tech cs a few times to get a feel ? - {You need to phone or ticket them for a static ip }.

Their pretty new to retail as they've mainly been more focused on their enterprise telecom division.

For £12pm  - £50 cashback, its not going to be aaisp or goscomb , but for a back up line - as Chrysalis says   :))

.I think Plusnet are one of the decent big isp's and are quite well respected.Not sure where their support lines are,I have heard some are based in South Africa and also the UK(please correct me if I'm wrong)

100% UK. Their Head Office is Sheffield and last year they opened a new call centre in Leeds.   Call waiting times arent too good atm though unless you ring late at night.

It might be quicker for me to nip down into town then  :D

Thanks for the info Kitz. :flower:

Well about two hours after looking at his and posting here, I received a mail from BT saying my line rental advance annual payment expired in three weeks time  :D And it takes three weeks to set up the new provider so I ordered the std ADSL package (I used to get about 9 on this same line in the past). I'll let you know how it goes and put it on MDWS once up....
