Problems updating HG612 to SP08
« on: April 18, 2015, 07:39:10 PM »

Hi all new user here so be kind please. I'm on Infinity2 and using HH5 type A and with G.INP on my green cab I've unlocked my Huawei HG612 3B last year but the firmware is SP10 and need SP08 I'm using a Apple MacBook Pro and don't have a Windows comp/latop. But can't get the OR modem to the unlocking part again to do the update to SP08. I've connected to LAN2 changed my IP Address to 198.168.1.100 hold down reset powered on etc..... but can't access http://192.168.1.1/ followed the instructions etc..... But it's not working and need help thanks for looking Michael

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

afaik, the fact that you arent using windows shouldnt make any difference.

I did notice this though
Quote
changed my IP Address to 198.168.1.100

Double check that IP as it should be 192.168.1.100

Sorry that was my mistake I did put in 192.168.1.100 just typed wrong in the post. I've been on the BT forums posted some info about this but some say it's because I'm using a Mac??? It's just I've followed the instructions below to what it says and it's not working and I'm pulling my hair out lol

I thought that may have been too easy to solve :D

OK you say you are currently using SP10, which is Asbo's version.  The main difference is that it wont work with g.inp and why you need B030SP08.

Because you've previously unlocked it can you access the modem without going through the reset process?
It may also be worth trying a different browser if you can, just to make sure that safari hasnt cached anything.
Can you telnet into the modem  (Sorry dont know how to do this on a Mac) but this is just to check that BTagent hasnt updated and disabled the webGUI.

No didn't get that far (fig.2) when I put in http://192.168.1.100/ after reset etc on safari it doesn't do anything like its not connected to the internet etc.... Not a clue on doing telnet to check the BTagent?? Yeah I can access the modem without the reset process.

Ok thanks for the screen grab, that shows that your Mac is talking to the modem and that the IPs must have been correct.

>>> it doesn't do anything like its not connected to the internet etc....

It doesnt need to be connected to the internet,  it just needs to be able to communicate with your PC.   I always disconnect (unplug) mine from the internet when doing any firmware upgrades.
You should have SP10 on your PC ready to upload from your machine direct to the modem.

From what you said so far, it sounds like the reset procedure isnt working, which is what you need to do to get to the F/W upload page.
Another 'just checking'   you are only using just LAN2 whilst trying to do the upload and youre not using the double cables and no router in between like you would to get stats? - Sorry if that was an obvious.

I'll leave this post here a little bit longer so you can read my response, but in a bit I'll split it off to forum its own topic and move to the routers section where one of the other guys may be more likely to spot it and come up with some other suggestions.

Doesn't Path 1 indicate G.INP ? - maybe with some numbers other than zero in, though.

Try this connect the HG612 to HH5A using the wan cable thats HH5 to port 1 on the HG612 and connect a lan cable to port2 on the HG612 and connect that to your HH5A any lan port will do.

Then go though the unlock process hold in reset button and power on the HG612 keep the reset button held in and count to 10 release the reset button again make sure you unplug the DSL cable and wait a minute then type 192.168.1.1

Also turn of any firewalls during the unlocking process.

Thanks NewtronStar for your response but I've tried as you said and still nothing. I think I'm gonna leave it as a bad job tbh and leave my HH5 TYPE A and wait for a firmware update for G.INP by BT or OR and keep an eye on here plus the BT forum many thanks for all your help Michael

Not to worry it's not the first time in here were the unlocking procedure fails it's either the HG612 itself or the host (PC side)  :-\

Have you tried exiting your browser, restarting it & then typing 192.168.1.1?

Yeah I closed and restarted my browser but still nothing. I'm just puzzled as on my old iMac before my MacBook Pro last year I didn't have any trouble doing the unlocking etc but still many thanks for all your help and talking the time to responed. Michael
