As I have built my house over the years I have hid things in different parts, eg in stud partitions in box beams and places that will not have easy access.

I'm just up-dating our kitchen and taken all the units out, changing the lighting etc.,  I have two alcoves 470 x 310mm
that are being plaster boarded over so there will be a cavity at the back 

I have put a news paper in one, What would you put in them ?.

On a more serious note.   You could put in a few coins and a list of the cost of current items, such as a loaf of bread, pint of milk, a pint of beer,  cost of a cinema ticket etc.   To balance this also add an income figure such as the state pension.
