I already had a support request open with Zyxel on the MDM issue and have forwarded the details to see if this might help them resolve it.

Curious if anyone could monitor the GUI memory with full local logging enabled.

I'm about to take my ZyXEL off line to see if another modem/router will repair the damage done by the DLM.
Will not be much to log when off line but I'll give it a go. If you've got a Raspberry Pi and wish to log the memory level yourself I'll post the logging scrip

I notice in the firmware V1.00(AAKL.7)C0.zip file there's a  .rom file, this appears to be a backup/restore conf file. I plan on reloading this firmware and seeing if the .rom file will restore the default settings. Doing a factory reset doesn't completely renew the conf setting so there may be something corrupt there.

Curious if anyone could monitor the GUI memory with full local logging enabled.

For what is worth:
vdsl was disconnected all logging features were enabled.
Logging was probably not very active so that didn't prove much.
Surprisingly GUI use had no affect on the shared memory level, perhaps it's my poor quality line this router doesn't like.

Hi

It wouldn't surprise me if it is just a particular aspect of using the Web UI that suddenly sees a memory leak and that it has to be connected and passing traffic to see the bug. I found my 'faulty' ZyXEL seems completely stable when not connected to the WAN, then as soon as it was passing traffic, it become very unstable.  OF course it isn't much use to me if not connected to the outside world  :-\

Regards

Phil

I am following this with interest as so far I've not had any issues with mine. This morning I decided to download a 1.4gb ISO while using the gui extensively and it all worked just fine. So I beginning to believe that maybe the two of you actually have faulty routers rather than it being a generic problem.

broad, now I've reduced the local logging to minimum and cleared the old logs the GUI seems to be responding normally and no longer crashing.

I'm still logging everything I have active, so the log is quite busy and I've never cleared it.

My power supply for my VMG8924 is gone.
I need to get a new one and I will get a generic one.
I know the power needs are 12V and 2A but do you know the DC barrel connector type?
Is it 2.5mm 5mm (inner/outer)?

I'm pretty sure it's the 2.5mm inner size as I have power plugs from other routers (eg HG635) that don't fit as their inner is too small so the Zyxel is the larger one.
A supply from a HomeHub 5 (type B only) or Technicolor TG589vac are the correct rating and will fit

I will check those from Thomson as well.
Do you know if the positive is on the internal side? I should be.
Would be possible if someone takes a picture of the original power supply.
I throw away mine and I forgot to take a picture

Most Router power supply plugs will have the inner contact as the + positive and outer contact as - negative if your not sure always use a a electronic volt meter it should be able to distinguish the DC polarity

As best as my vernier gauge can tell it's 5mm outer, 2mm inner (tried to push it to 2.5mm but it doesn't look like it is). Inner is positive 12V, outer is 0V. I've got a bunch of loose plugs, some of which I used when I hooked all the routers up to a 12V DC battery supply, but darned if I can recall now what the dimensions of the plugs are!

Thanks for the info
To be more precise the outer is 5mm and the inner 2.1mm (I don't think if there is any 2mm).
The tip is 12V and the sleeve the GND and the max output current 2A.
