Hello and Thanks!
« on: February 09, 2015, 04:07:20 PM »

This has been a very useful site for me! I joined late last year while wrestling with an unreliable ADSL connection. Site content helped me firstly overcome the lack of a good Telnet interface on the Belkin N+ router I was using by pointing me at RouterStats-Lite and then on the old Speedtouch I reverted to at one point in the process. In the end it turned out the problem was a) condensation in the BT cabinet dripping on my connection and subsequently b) damaged drop cable near the pole where a tree [not mine] had split the cable. That took 6 weeks to get fixed.

Secondly, knowing that I was going to migrate to FTTC soon and would need a new router, I opted, after some considerable research, for the Zyxel VMG8924-B10A which the site had drawn my attention to along with the DSLstats tool which has been great.

Today I migrated to FTTC and Plusnet having been with Zen for 8 years. Wasted some of my time trying to diagnose failure to connect on a VDSL link that was clearly working, until it dawned on me that Plusnet hadn't activated the connection - grrrrrr.

The next problem was that although I could get to the internet using the Ethernet interface on the router and the OpenReach modem, I couldn't get connected using the router's VDSL interface and integral modem. Once again this site to the rescue when I found the post with information on setting up a VMG8324 for VDSL in the UK.

This is a great site - thanks to all involved.

Needless to say, Plusnet have not been particularly helpful and contributed several hiccups along the way!
