Huawei ecolife hg612 & Sky fibre
« on: January 28, 2015, 03:11:25 PM »

Hi guys i purchased one of the above from ebay already unlocked. I initially reset it by holding the reset button for 10seconds when I first had it to wipe out any personal settings.

Does this look correct?

I've been following this guide: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-broadband-fibre-help/53035-how-use-openreach-modem-sky-fibre-router-guide.html

My settings look identical to his above screenshots and its a freshly reset router.

Im at the telnet stage and after logging in successfully im presented with 'ATP'. I then enter the 'sh' command mentioned and im presented with 'Busybox ..built in shell (ash)' instead a list of running processes?

Tried the following commands:
xdslcmd info --state

xdslcmd info --stats

xdslcmd info --pbParams

And they produce this result (top command is out of focus, but states its status as Idle).

Note: I havent yet connected up to the faceplate yet, (theres not enough space to use a PC where its placed) though i assume that wont matter since im just entering settings?

I did post this on another forum, but it looks like i've finally come to the correct place :D

that is correct, sh runs the shell. ps (while in busybox/ash) is probably the command you want for a list of running processes.

Thats is weird you can access the HG612 GUI but can't access the telnet.
this is what i would do is to re-flash the HG612 with http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=14262.0

the way to get the running process's is CTL + ALT and DELETE and select the Task Manager and select process's this not a telnet command.

So you want to configure the modem as a modem/router? The downside is it doesn't have enough horsepower to get max speed.

Notsure if i should follow that guide at all since it states it doesnt have a GUI when mine does already.

What is the most upto date guide on installing sky with these, having difficulty finding any other guides? Any help appreciated

Mine didn't have a fast enough CPU to be able to deliver 80/20 on my BT connection. However that was using pppoe which is resource-hungry so you may have better results on Sky as it's not pppoe.

Are you planning to use a router behind it then, and just use it as a modem? If so, which router?

As you bought it unlocked and then did a factory reset, I'm not sure what state it's in now, so I suggest you unlock it again.

Yes just as a modem and a TP link N600 (wdr3600) as the router/dhcp etc.

Is this the correct guide to use? http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=14262.0

The very first post, by Howlingwolf, to that thread is a link to the location from which one may download the latest (current) unlocked firmware images.

The original unlocking instructions, by Asbokid, are still valid as a description of the technique to use.
