That's what he means, but you can reboot the 7800N from its GUI. Have a look at Configuration (Advanced mode) --> System --> Restart.

Excellent thanks ..so around 11.00am ?

Any time now, it's not critical.

Q) Why 1100 hours?

A) It's all to do with the state ionosphere, where in the world it's day time v night time, propagation of radio signals, etc. If the circuit is subject to RFI which is originating from far away, then a resynchronisation at around that time when the signal to noise ratio is at its maximum may result in the best synchronisation speeds.

NewtronStar, through practical experience, is an expert in the matter of the propagation long range radio signals and the interference they cause to an xDSL circuit.  :)

The simplest method would be to make use of Eric's utility, DSLstats.

If you also create an account with Tony's MyDSLWebStats site, the data harvested by DSLstats can be uploaded for viewing by anyone, anywhere. (So if you want an opinion upon your US SNRM between 22:23 and 03:17 hours a week ago last Tuesday - Wednesday, for example, anyone of us could look up the relevant graph for that time period.)

Hi bigbossa!

and greetings to a fellow Linuxer   ;D

I also have a Billion 7800N and a long (ADSL1) line which (sometimes) is subject to much interference.

One thing that I would say, and you may have already discovered for yourself, is that Broadcoms PhyR feature is not enabled by default.
So if you update the firmware, or reset to default settings, it will no longer be enabled, even if it had been previously.  :(

You can enable it by setting the 'PhyR' check boxes in the modems web interface under Advanced / Configuration / ADSL Mode.

Don't forget to then 'save' the settings so that it is still enabled next time you reboot the
router!  ;)

A brief spell with PhyR disabled saw my sync rate and SNR margin hammered by DLM.  >:(

Best of luck!
