This ADSL2 (not ADSL2+) user tries to remember where he left the paper tape reader and the card punch . . .  ;)

After asking nicely over at the TalkTalk forum they have deactivated the DLM on my line . I reset the SNR to default before they did this .
Any advice on how to ste up the router my line stats are follows :

DSP Firmware Version    A2pB025f.d22k
DMT Status   No Defect
Operational Mode   G.DMT
Upstream   608
Downstream   3296
SNR Margin(Upstream)   9.0
SNR Margin(Downstream)   9.0
Line Attenuation(Upstream)   31.5
Line Attenuation(Downstream)   57.0

It almost looks as if your circuit has been configured with a target SNRM of 9 dB.  :-\

sorry for not replying earlier ...so its not looking ideal then? what would you suggest is the best way now ie tweaking the SNR settings etc with the Billion 7800n now that the DLM has been disabled?

latest stats .. SNR seems to have gone down ..slighty

The simplest way of discovering as to what the target SNRM is currently set is to check immediately after the modem/router has been rebooted.

However as you are a fellow TalkTalk service user, it would be simplest to request (via the Members' Forum) for your target SNRM to be set to 6 dB.

The TalkTalk ADSL profiles are documented here.

I have the DLM disabled on my line and a profile of 8ISNR6 (upto 8 Mbps DS, interleaved, target SNRM 6 dB).

With DLM turned off you can always experiment. I think what I would do is monitor the SNRM for 24 hours to see how low it drops at the worst point. Then make sure that any tweak still leaves (say) 3 dB to spare at that worst point.

Firstly . . . Agreeing with Eric's recommendation. When tweaking, ensure that the SNRM does not go below 3 dB at the lowest point in an average 24 hour cycle.  :)

Secondly . . . Eek. Your DS SNRM has already dropped to 2.6 dB. That could be due to interference from a "local disrupter". Ideally we would need to see a few days worth of graphs to get some feeling as to what is happening with your circuit.  :-\
