Planet VC-230N tests
« on: September 12, 2014, 01:47:15 AM »

Just received my Planet VC-230N. My goal is to be able to test other VDSL2 modems.

Initial tests with HG612, profile 17a , 1 meter distance. ( similar to Burakkucat tests )
Limited at 100Mb/s downstream and 50Mb/s upstream.

The telnet shell is easily enabled editing the exported profile saved and reloaded with "telnetd=1".
Low level access to xDSL chip:
Code: [Select]
cd /mtd/bin
./dslcli

help = ? ( doesn't need enter )

statistics using telnet

interface
xdsl
show
status 1

Tomorrow will test with Tplink 8980@9980.

That's creepy ....  >:(
All modems that I tested with VC-230N worked in profile 17a and limited to 100/50 mb/s. TD-W9980 doesn't complete the sync in any of the possible modulations in VC-230N.
I tested with HG610, HG612 and CT5372. All of them worked as expected. Slight changes in attainable speed and snr but sync OK.

If someone have a clue ...

Im sorry I dont know.

The only difference Ive noticed when setting up some routers is that some of them require a setting for IEEE P802.1p which I believe is to do with QoS.  So for eg in the ZyXel I had to put the following info in for the VLAN section for it to work in the UK
802.1p (2)
802.1q (101)

There wasnt anything in the TPlink and the only setting I had available was VLAN 101.   I dont see how that could change things though?

The problem is before that point. The modems (VC-230N and TD-W9980 ) try syncing but doesn't sucessfully complete. All other modems complete the sync.

Maybe hints towards the OEM dsl_vr9_firmware_xdsl  ?

Would swapping out the vdsl.bin  be an idea.

BT GPL has both  dsl_vr9_firmware_xdsl Annex A /B in the GPL as a control group. (dl)
http://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/products/super-fastfibreaccess/super-fastfibreaccess/landrgnu.do
Or
If its openwrt- you can  manually edit  parameter "-i"   in dsl_control / ifx_cpe_control_init.sh to suit
Code: [Select]

Unfortunately I'm dealing with the unbridled joy of BT India at the moment so apologies for the brief post.  :-[
