Just had an email advising my g3uist had started uploading again after a failure. However I can't find any confirmation that it stopped at My end.

Well there is definitely a hole in the uploads for the period in the resume mail...

Or do you mean you didn't receive the not uploading mail? That would be normal if the link was down for around 10-11 minutes as it doesn't send the down mail until around 11minutes (there is a second check at 10 mins after the initial 5 minutes has passed) after it occurs so often you'll only see the resume mail as that takes priority and cancels the outstanding loss mail.

Didn't get the upload fail mail. Nothing to show here or on Tbb ping graph that line was down.

Going to be a mystery I suspect

What info does MDWS use to work out cabinet type? and how often does it gather this data?

The information is read from the modem by the monitoring program (DSLstats or HG612_Stats) and uploaded to MDWS every minute as part of the regular stats upload. The cabinet type is inferred from the DSLAM manufacturer, which is what the modem actually reports.

Sorry, not true :-[

I had something in the back of my brain telling me MDWS worked out the cabinet type by the tones used. No idea where I got that from.

I was previously on an ECI cabinet but now on a Huawei. MDWS still reports my line as being on an ECI cabinet. Will this update itself? I'm guessing it's not a common occurrence, and wondered if it might need manual intervention from Tony.

I apologise for a dose of brain fade on my part. DSLstats obtains the DSLAM type as described above, but I don't know how MDWS gets it.

To be honest I thought it was the opposite lol. I thought DslStats simply requested the vendor id from the DSLAM but didn't report that to MDWS, and MDWS did the guessing from tones. Are you sure that's not the case? I don't want to tell the Author of a fantastic app how his own app works but DslStats also reports DSLAM firmware. Doesn't it just send xdslcmd info --vendor

Yes, that's what I said (or meant) - DSLstats gets the information from the modem, using the --vendor command. I don't know how MDWS gets it.

MDWS works it out from various tones being present or not present.

I need to know your MDWS user name please and I'll change it later as it's static once set.
