That, definitely, is not good.

I've downloaded the latest V100AAKL6b2.bin firmware for the ZyXel and flashed it, I'll drop it back on tomorrow and watch the stats for an hour.

Update: 6b2 seems to be a great deal better, only 1 CRC and 1 ES in first 15 mins but still chalked up 40 ES over 1 hour.
Still not a worthy replacement to the ECI, so I'll stick with that and the ASUS for now.

Simon,

I'm pleased to see in your latest post that the latest firmware appears to have largely resolved the CRC and ES errors. Please keep us posted on your progress.

I have donated £5 to Kitz today.

Sadly, I do not have any more F1000s at the moment. They are becoming harder to find. I shall post again when I get one.

Regards,

Dermot.

Has it been possible to source any more of these as I would be tempted to get one?

Sadly the ones on there now are considerably more than that!

I havent checked recently, but the last time I looked at the buy new prices....   Kcom was the cheapest for the VMG8924 and Eclipse cheapest for the VMG8324.

After nearly a week, this has been the most stable modem/router I have used apart from the HH5 Type B. Errors are lower than both the HG612 and Billion 8800NL on my 80Mb Infinity 2 connection, My Type B HH5 does report a slightly higher attainable speed and actually syncs slightly higher, but gives a lower sync/attainable upstream. Clearly I don't know what sort of errors it is giving. Reported SNR seems higher with the Zyxel, the HH5 seems to be constantly at just below 6dB which may account for the sync speed. I also seem to recall a setting on my Asus DSL-AC68U which allowed you to force a higher downstream rate at the expense of upstream, and I wonder if this is what the HH5 is doing?

Using the latest AAKL.7 firmware, which allows me to run both DSL Stats and HG612 Modem Stats, so I am assuming the single Telnet session limitation has been removed. Also with the Billion I had to revert to the 0.38 DSL driver firmware to stop excessive errors which finally dropped my fastpath connection, but the 0.39i driver in the Zyxel seems to be performing flawlessly.

Which store is Kcom as I don't recognise it and google throws up a very different set of companies for this name?

Sorry kcom's online store is
https://www.kc.co.uk/products/add-ons/mytech/features/

Same as with eclipse I believe they sell to non kcom'customers, you need to set up an account though.

Thanks Kitz - will see if the 8324 performs well when the ebay purchase turns up and if it does I'll look at getting an 8924 for the better wifi speeds as I think it has the same chipset

Not necessarily. If you have the "HG612-Modem-Stats co-operation" option set in DSLstats, the two programs will log on and off at different times.
