Purchased Zyxel and all up and running !!!!

Was on 3.5 - 4 Mbps Adsl2 (Sky)

Now 72-80 Mbps Vdsl2 (Plusnet) *** DLM running so changing ***

Very Happy !!!

I am getting 9-15 Mbps more 'Attainable Net Data Rate' than the Openreach HG612 Modem.

It gives me more headroom for when the 'Actual Net Data Rate' starts bouncing up/down due to DLM and more users being added to the Cab (Crosstalk).

DSLStats is up and running and I can monitor what happens to my line. ;D

Bumping this, because theres been a few queries on how to get a VMG8324-10A.  The OEM versions are now like gold dust and have all sold out in the UK. :(
So if you want one, an unbranded F1000 is about the best alternative.

I think it pretty silly to say max rate is higher than BT Openreach Modem because your line still capped at 79987K anyway, no big deal to buy it over max rate higher than BTO Modem.

Im afraid I disagree with you there.  All of us here who have been on FTTC for a while have seen our speeds reduced due to FeXT - So far Ive lost circa 20Mb.  Once upon a time my max rate was at 105Mb - but FeXT soon ate away at that.

There are plenty who may have started on the full 80/20 but due to cross-talk their sync speeds deteriorate as more users are connected to the cab.  You have to look at it in proportion and there are those who get less than 80Mbps but have got better sync speeds by putting on the Zyxel.  In fact Ive yet to hear anyone who has got less sync speed - all have got more.

With the ZyXel my headline is currently circa 88Mbps.  With the TPLink its 82Mbps.   My SNRm is less with the TPlink and Im getting far more errors.
I dont get any downstream FECs with the ZyXEL, but I do with the TP-Link.   With the TPlink Ive seen my SNRm drop down to below 6dB

Code: [Select]
Sync: 80000 (max)
                SNRMargin 5.8 dB

In other words it was only just hanging on to 80Mbps - If Id done a resync at that time, then I wouldnt have got the full 80Mb.   The ZyXel gives me far more headroom.

and ironically Ive just this moment read your post here
http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=14434.0

Yes of course the TP-link is giving you more errors - its because your SNRm is lower than on the HG612 ???
Its the better SNRm that is giving you the extra headroom.. so now you see why it is important!

Edited to change link as Ive spilt your post to form its own thread

Thanks for explain this to me. Look like I have to go back to standard BT Openreach Modem to be safeside as I don't want TP Link ruining my SNR lower and cause more errors and will end up nasty DLM anytime. As for ZyXel - it no longer selling elsewhere in UK. I wish I purchase this rather than TP Link. I am going to sent this TP Link back to broadbandbuyer for a refund under DSR 14 days.

2 x F1000 units sold to Kitz users recently. £10 donated to Kitz.co.uk

I received 4 x F1000 recently, all locked, still in their boxes. If you would like to unlock the F1000 yourself, just ask.

Just ordered one of these, bargain price.

Looking forward to trying it out. Unsure whether to use this in place of the Asus DSL-AC68U or as a combination because I've found the Asus Wake on Lan useful when away from home.
