Compare ISP ratings.
« on: January 23, 2008, 08:17:48 PM »

Who's going first?

At long last -  and after much trepidation Im today rolling out live the Rate your ISP pages.

As it stands the only known problem is identification of 02 and Be, since Be issue the IP ranges for O2.
I am hoping to hear something/more on this soon, but in view of the fact that the major part had been coded in Oct/Nov Ive decided to run live with this now, then I can move on to the next stage of the larger project :)

Thanks to the beta testers and their feedback so far.

Very nice!

I was shocked that my ISP was not listed. There is a whole 1 of its users her on the forums  :P.

I will RDC into my sisters laptop in a bit and leave a rating on here Sky 16mb package(for £10/m it is amazing).

EDIT: Just noticed sky was not there.

Its nice to have a independant view on it. When i see the likes of moneysupermarket advertising on TV and Radio stations it makes you wonder how a comparison site gets that much money! I just found out by disabling my proxy and noscript and my popup block and all i can say is...WOW where is the conent of the site. 80% is adverts and sponsorship. I think you have to strike a balance with content and adverts and that site does not!

Yes it would of been nice to see some stats from Sky customer (although isn't that supplied by BT)?
Also Stats from Virgin Media (None Cable) customers.

I appreciate it's not possible to include all suppliers, but possibly an assortment of say ten suppliers may give a fairer survey.

But it's still good of you to take the time and trouble to do what you have done.

Thanks

Need a sky customer to rate it - since it wont show up until one of their customers has done so.
Over time the list will grow as more people rate their ISP and then give a much better representation.  With me only launching it last night its a bit sparse atm, so I need you guys to give your views on your ISP. :)

It should recognise most ISPs... theres around 30 + ISPs  that I know it can identify,
jabn's ISP is a very small one that specialises in bonded adsl,  which is why its not on there.

I think I see now, It automatically recognises our individual ISPs when we log into the questionnaire. :-[

Good morning.
I rated my ISP yesterday, Virgin Media non-cable, and instead of putting in some useful comment, I tried a joke which was of no use to anyone.
I cannot now rerate "this month".

I recorded line stats last evening, and copy them here.
I hope these are the correct figures, if not you might let me know and I will try again.
These figures were recorded at 19.25, Thursday 24th Jan.

hiyas td

In view of the fact that during the testing period I had allowed people to "double vote" if you want to pm me what you would like it amending to and the approx time etc then i'll see what I can do :)
Although if you were trying to post your line stats in then really that information relates to your actual line rather than anything that the ISP can control.

You should still be able to rate again next month regardless.

Kitz, the wee message that I put in the "rate your ISP" box is irrelevant and best forgotten.

The stats I posted above were in response to a post above from Old Fogey when he said that it would be nice to see stats from a Virgin.Media user.
Obviously, I have misunderstood what stats he is referring to and have posted the wrong stuff.

Perhaps someone advise what detail is wanted, and how I would go about supplying same.

I think OF meant he wanted to see some ratings from Virgin Media and sky users and what they thought of their ISP.
I dont think he realised at the time that it needed more people to rate their ISPs since it had only just gone live.   I suppose I should "spam" the link elsewhere too to get more people's opinion but I was just waiting to see if it all worked ok first.  Over time it will fill up and become more accurate as different people put in their ratings.

However, In view of the current situation on VM dsl, your comment looked appropriate and not out of place.

PS if anyone wants to pass on the link to a friend etc to give their opinion on their ISP - then please do.

TD,
The stats I was referring to are only what you have posted, thanks.

Kitz,
Would it be possible or relevant to see how many people have actually participated on each individual survey, (preferably on the first main page) only not everyone may leave a comment, therefore it's not possible (I believe) to get an overall satisfaction rating at an easy glance.

For example, if I was the only person to rate Virgin Media 100% in all categories, this would show as a score of 25. (I think)
Yet if 50 people rated "xyz ISP" at a low score then would this be relevant.

I hope you understand what I am trying to say.
Thanks.
