HG612 ModemStats with ZyXel VMG8324-B10A
« on: April 22, 2014, 02:12:32 PM »

I thought Id post this so that others can see progress to date.

With BaldEagles hard work and bug checking, both HG612_stats.exe & HG612_current_stats.exe appear to be working on the VMG8324-B10A

I'm now trying to get this integrated with Ronski's logging GUI.  We have some progress and a scheduled task has been set up to collect data from the ZyXel.
The graphing scripts, RunGraphPD & Run Snapshot Graphs also appear to be working (I have limited data atm to make any decent graphs, but it looks ok so far).

The GUI identified my router, but that was likely due to the .ini which I had already manually configured, so I didnt need to do anything there.
The scheduled task is running every min and collecting stats in both HG612_stats.TXT and modem_stats.log
The scheduled 2pm run of Current_Stats_201422-1400-SCHEDULED ran correctly and produced all the correct graphs, and a Plink log time stamped Plink log 2014.04.22 14:00:08.

I do however have an issue in that the sys tray balloon is showing an error every minute (see attached cap)
pbParams does show in the GUI, but there appears to be a problem with the xlog.file which is causing errors to be thrown.

Results of GUI Error Log.txt
Code: [Select]
22/04/2014 13:42:07 - Error reading Xlog file.
22/04/2014 13:42:07 - Error message: Length cannot be less than zero.
Parameter name: length

Yet from what I can see, the xlogfile.text looks fine & appears to be updating on each run.
To clarify pbParams is updating in the GUI - it currently shows the correct stats for 14:25 22/04/2014 & the contents do change on each run.
Let me know if you need any more error logs

Thanks for all your help guys :)

Can you attach a copy of your modem log and the xlogfile. I can then take a look and find the difference and make the required changes.

Thanks ronski :)

I've worked out the problem, the HG612 xlogfile uses tabs between the various numbers, your log file uses spaces. Thus when I extracted the values it was using the wrong character code.

All sorted now, please run an update check, hopefully it should work, please also check that everything else looks correct.

Just in case it's relevant:-

The info --stats data is exactly as obtained at the stage xlogfile is written (all spaces - my program only add tabs etc. later on).

However, the info --pbParams data has had tabs added & also positions of the band headings etc. have been reformatted in order to line things up in table style columns properly.

@BE1, any change in the formatting of the xlog file can break the scraping of data from it, although this was an easy fix I simply replaced any spaces with tabs and trimmed the additional extra tabs from the start of the string, the string was then the same as the version from the HG612, and the replace/trim has no effect when it is the HG612 version.

@Kitz you welcomes and I'm glad it's working, although my part in that was relatively minor.

Since support has been added for ZyXel VMG8324-B10A, would this mean that similar
ZyXel models such as the SBG3300-N Series should work with this tool as well?

Hope Im not speaking out of turn and stepping on any paws/talons.

@ les, I dont think its quite ready yet as BE has to make a few final tweaks, but he is almost there and the hardwork has been done.

Its mostly down to error logging files (which hopefully soon wont be needed) and speed of PC.   BE is developing 3 speed settings to cope with different CPU speeds.  Although saying that my fast PC also works fine with medium too, so its looking good.

I think ronski just then needs to make a few changes to his GUI and its ready to go.

atm Im making any changes manually via the .ini  & just trying to see if I can break it in slow mode too  :D

I cant speak for the SBG3300-N, but I should imagine the VMG1312-B should work as I was using those settings for dslstats for a while, so the firmwares must be similar.   It might be a case of suck it and see.
From what I understand from Zyxel, the VMG8324 firmware does closely follow the SBG3300-N firmware...  so theres a good chance that it may work too.

On dslstats, selecting VMG1312-B or VMG8324 for Login also works for the SBG3300-N and so if you are implanting support
for VMG8324-B10A than I presume SBG3300-N should also work with ModemStats by selecting one of those models.

Can I assume that the routers mentioned in this thread with WMG... names are actually VMG... ?

Let me know if you wish to try the pre-release beta programs.
If so, I'll post them here.

They seem to work O.K. with Kitz's ZyXel modem/router & they definitely work with my HG612.
