O the hg612 leave DHCP disabled so that it does not use an IP range.

If you set the Asus IP to 192.168.1.254  as mentioned by HighBeta then set the  IP range on that to 2-253 and enable DHCP.

Sometime just double checking the set up & switch off the Asus for half an hour or so might sort the issue out.

HG612 -Lan 1 ---->  Asus Wan port
HG612 -Lan 2  ----> Asus spare ethenet port

Some Screen shots here might help with the asus

We might have found your issue :)

If you want just internet access its always HG612 Lan 1 ------> Wan

Lan 2 is for just the administration of the HG612 so any spare ethernet port on the router {or network switch} to access 192.168.1.1 page.

Hmm
Might have to double check your sky details.

& the Asus is on Automatic IP in the Wan Connection /

Theres a post on another form where a user experienced a similar issue to you. Copying and pasting the username and password using wireshark sorted the issue out. Check post 8

Im not sure if it will work with a tp-link.    The HG612 acts as a modem (not router) to connect to the BT part of the network (ie the fibre).   You then need a separate router to perform the login to the SKY network.. and thats the tricky bit.   AFAIK most sky users are using the ASUS router with the MER firmware that allows you to config the sky part of the login.  So you will need a router that can install firmware on that has MER like features..  which afaik the td-w8970 cant.

Hey, I've been using this forum extensively in my (as yet unsuccessful) attempts to get my RT-AC66U router and HG612 3b modem working. So, I've installed the merlin software and input my data (as taken from wireshark), I decided to put in my MAC address although I've tried without also. I'm pretty confident I've successfully unlocked the HG612 modem too, but I couldn't find if there are any settings that need to be altered there... I've tried leaving the setup for some time (up to about 1-2 hours before changing things like trying the password without ' ' around it etc.) but to no avail.

Now, I'm not actually connected to Sky Fibre for 2 days- but surely if my router and modem are properly set up then it would be working via ADSL2 anyway? I did check and the HG612 is using all protocols, and the DSL light shines a steady green- but I cannot connect even via ethernet.

I promise I've delved into the forums as extensively as possible before resurfacing this old topic, but if anyone can shed any light I would really appreciate it!

Cheers,

Bobby

VDSL uses PTM which the modem is set up to use by default.

ADSL uses ATM which you have to configure the modem to use.
