« on: October 20, 2013, 05:31:38 PM »

Seems like you now have the full IP Profile for a 40Mbps connection  :)

Is it actually in sync at 40Mbps (or 39999 Kbps or so)?

I haven't checked since July (until today), but it seems there has only been a tiny change for my connection, although it now allegedly suffers from crosstalk (although I do suspect other factors are actually at play).

I have never seen the profile go above 31000 kbps in 15 months on 40/10  ???

No it sync's at MAX attainable: 35196 kpbs but starts to drop off in the evenings, my bearer: seems to be stuck at 28632 kbps

It seems that your IP Profile as reported by the BT test is 'stuck'.
Maybe the connection briefly resynced at 40 Mbps before resyncing at 28632 Kbps

A ROUTER disconnect/reconnect SHOULD refresh the IP Profile & PPPoE session.
Assuming the modem remains in sync at 28632 Kbps, the IP profile should actually end up at around 27.71 Mbps i.e. 96.79% of sync speed (unless BT have started to report the max DS IP Profile for the service - as they do for US).

No BE they haven't, at least not for my connection.

Also the IP profile is dynamic for FTTC, there is no x%?

Yes, it's dynamic but based upon sync speed.
We have seen IP Profile at approx 96.79% of sync speed ever since we have been monitoring FTTC connections.

Of course, if NS's connection resynced at a different speed, the IP Profile would also be different.

Let's see what his reported IP Profile is after the router disconnect, preferably without resyncing the modem.

IP Profile of 38.71 Mb is quite close to being around 96.79% of 40 Mb.

I did not turn off the router as it looks like the IP profile has gone back to normal  :(
must have been a blip on the BT performance site  ;) I really thought a miracle had just taken place on my line.

Just a bRAS mismatch, not uncommon.

So, do you accept the 96.79% as a useful & empirically proven ratio (as a general rule of thumb) or not?

Ah well it looks like i'll never go any faster than what I had before and after updates  :(

what gets up my goat is sometimes you get a retrain 8000 and my sync go's above 31000 and you start to see download speeds of 30000 kbps for a day and then a retrain 2 and it's all gone back to normal with a high interleaving that lasts two weeks.

I cant understand whats happening on DLM or Modem when Mrs Retrain 8000 rise's it's head and gives me false hope.

So BE1 your Bearer or sync is now at 20239 kbps with an IP Profile of 19.61 ?

If I have mentioned 20239 elsewhere it was a mistake. Please tell me where you have seen it & I'll amend it.

My connection has remained in sync at 20256 since the firmware update with an IP Profile of 19.61.
