Have you seen anything that looks like the location where header pins could be fitted for JTAG or serial port console access, please?  :-\

A 'square on', high resolution image would be rather interesting to see . . .  ;)

I wasn't able to upload normal size images. The forum doesn't allow more than 200kb per file. I must admit I am not very good at taking pictures. :)

There are no obvious signs of serial or jtag. It's similar to the Home Hub 3 - Type A in that regard.

Appreciated. However my e-mail in-box is capable of handling large attachments!  ;)

I learned a little more about taking pictures of the PCB. :)

I also followed a video on aligning both sides of the PCB using GIMP:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AfArfgJHsk

Here is a link to the xcf file (zipped): http://www.qfpost.com/file/d?g=DcoxN6f3l (~20MB)

I've attached an example of what it looks like in GIMP with transparency.

Thank you for sharing. That video was very interesting to watch.  :)

I have never managed to comprehend usage of the GIMP . . . probably due to something like old felines and new tricks.

Me either with GIMP until yesterday. I learned just enough to get the job done. ;)

The xcf file might be useful to anyone looking to trace the UART or JTAG.

As the HH5 has a built in VDSL modem will you be able you unlock the modem side like a HG612 to get the stats or is it unlocked out of the box ?

There are some stats allowed in the HH5.

Here is the list of them.

6. Data rate: 20000 / 79995 (Sync speed)
7. Maximum data rate: 28156 / 91123 (Attainable)
8. Noise margin: 9.9 / 9.0
9. Line attenuation: 0.0 / 11.9
10. Signal attenuation: 0.0 / 11.9

More information here. [1]

It's likely the HH5A will eventually be cracked and be able to run OpenWrt or at least be hacked to provide access to all the stats available.

My upstairs line was upgraded to Infinity 2 today. The engineer recognised the HH5 and setup using it rather than a ECI /r.

I swapped it for the HG612 after he left and it performed similarly to the HH5. The speed was 79499/20000 on the HH5 and 79752/20000 on the HG612 and the max was ~81000/26000 on both.
