In a post to
another forum thread I mentioned
The Institution of Post Office Electrical Engineers, that Institution's quarterly publication
The Post Office Electrical Engineers' Journal, the successor
The Institution of British Telecommunications Engineers and its quarterly publication
British Telecommunications Engineering Journal.
Having read
Black Sheep's subsequent comment, I made a note to remind myself to perform some research. This is what I found . . .
In the beginning there was
The Institution of Post Office Electrical Engineers. Date: 1906.
It subsequently became
The Institution of British Telecommunications Engineers. Date: 1982.
That, in turn, became
The Communications Network. Date: 2002.
Five years later, it became
The Institute of Telecommunications Professionals. Date: 2007.
The history of
The Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (
ITP) is documented on its website. [1]
The
ITP's quarterly publication is (rather unfortunately) named
The Journal and the Institute produces another publication,
Telecoms Professional. Non-members of the
ITP can also subscribe to its publications. [2] There is also an on-line search facility available. [3]
Finally, the
ITP has also taken over the running of the
Connected Earth website [4], which had originally been founded by
Beattie.
So now we know.
