Anyone got an internet radio?
« on: June 25, 2013, 11:38:17 AM »

FM radio is iffy in our house, so we listen through our Hummy PVR or SWMBO's Ipod for best reception. We have portable FMs, but sound can get awfully distorted, because of a nearby hill in line with the transmitter

I am thinking of getting a portable internet radio, mainly for bedroom use.
Has anyone comments, warnings or recommendations at a not too heavy price?

My son bought one from Aldi and seems quite happy with it, (Well it's always on when we visit!! :) )

I often use the radio from my phone through a streamer directly into my hearing aids, but I don't think that's very helpful, sorry.

I've got a Roberts internet radio which I use in the kitchen. It works very well, but I've never tried using it on battery power.

I have one of the Tevion (Aldi) ones which is a few years old now for the kitchen.  It works perfectly fine, but I must admit its a bit redundant these days since I got my ipod.

By strange coincidence I was looking these up online earlier, idly wondering if it's worth getting one.

Can you get the usual main stations on them via the Internet - ie Radio 2, Radio 4 and also 6Music?  Or are they only for the more exotic internet-only stations?

Yes, all the BBC radio stations are on the 'net. Probably all the commercial stations as well. The choice is vast, and it's organised by country and category, so it's quite easy to find what you want.
