@renluop:
Did the previous version work properly?
Did you retain the file dslstats.ini from the previous version?
In the Login configuration, is the option "Router is a Thomson/Technicolor model" ticked?

(Sorry about all the questions). :)

Two very minor observations from The Cattery.
  • Whenever the utility is invoked, the screen opens in un-maximised mode. As far as I can recall, it has always behaved in that way.
  • Is the blank line intentional, which precedes the Event Log message 'Date Time IP Address is now W.X.Y.Z'?
(Using the 64-bit Linux variety of DSLstats.)

1. DSLstats should remember the window size and position, but doesn't know if the window was actually maximised. This is a slightly difficult issue with Linux, because not all desktop systems support a genuine maximise capability. I think what I'll do (and should probably have done earlier) is add another option "Start program maximised" to the miscellaneous options section.

2. The blank line isn't intentional, but you're not missing anything. It's just a blank line. :)

Prev version seemed OK
The only ini appears to be for the new version ( based on date showing)
Option was not ticked but model had been selected.

I had both 3.31 and 3.4 in C:\users\...\dslstats\ but thinking that might be the problem deleted 3.31 folder.

FWIW I have att'd two items in case they may help.

RE: Stats

Haven't seen any comments about the stats tab recently, but the upstream values appear to be out of synch

The upstream INP: value (0.21) is displayed in the RSUnCorr/RS field

Code: [Select]
DSLAM/MSAN type:
DSL mode:        ADSL2+
Status:          ShowtimeRetrain
Uptime:

Downstream Upstream
Attenuation (dB):        31.0 18.2
Connection speed (kbps): 14156 1155
SNR margin (dB):        3.2 5.6
Power (dBm):            0.0 12.4
Interleave depth:        64 4

RSCorr/RS (%):          6.6972 0.0000
RSUnCorr/RS (%):        0.0017 0.21
ES/hour:                2.11 0
INP:                    1.07

That option must be ticked for your router. If it's not, that would explain your problem.

The date on the ini file doesn't mean a lot, because it's re-written every time you run DSLstats.

You're quite right. When I moved some things around on that page I messed up slightly.

It will be corrected in the next version.

Thanks for correcting my idiocy :drink:
All seems Ok once more.  does QLN mean what I think it does, or something else?

I can't permit you to call it idiocy. :) There are rather a lot of options in this program.

QLN is Quiet Line Noise. It's an indicator of the quality of the line, and it's only measured at the time when the router is negotiating the connection with the exchange.

Got to right page :) but now find that warning "no data received in latest sample" is appearing. Recent event log reads
Code: [Select]
17 Jun 2013 12:43:14 Recording started
17 Jun 2013 12:43:17 Recording started
17 Jun 2013 12:43:17 Previous sample still being processed
Connected
17 Jun 2013 12:43:17 No stats received
17 Jun 2013 12:43:50 No stats received

I feel even more clueless than ever! What even more might I be mucking up in setting the app with Technicolor 582N?

I'm not sure if it helps, but I see quite a few of these on my tg582n.   It's not dependant of version as it happens every so often since the first version of dslstats available for our router.

I'd just assumed that for some reason or other that dslstats wasn't able to get the required info at that particular time.   It does eventually clear and recording resumes as normal.

On that 'stats summary page.....
I know that my router does not supply INP and AS uptime so those lines are blank as you would expect.
However what is meant to be shown againt "Status:" which is also blank - and always has been for me for all program versions?
I attach a file showing the outputs from the stats page with the actual ADSLstats command output added in below.

The manual scaling option you've added to the SNRmargin graph works great and is a significant improvement to the program if you want to look at one of the traces in enlarged detail.

I'm not sure why this happens with some routers, but I suspect that it's down to a rather underpowered CPU which has no spare capacity to respond to telnet commands at times when it's busy on higher priority tasks. What I will do some time soon is put a TG582N back on my system to see if I can find out more about what's happening.

I think I can see what's happening here. With your router the Status line is the same line as the one which reports the connection speeds. DSLstats works its way through the stats text line by line, and when it finds the connection speeds it records this information and moves on to the next line. So when, later on, it looks for the word "Status" it's already gone past the line which contains the Status.

I'll sort this out in the next version.
