About a month ago I sucumbed to the TalkTalk Youview offer, and within a few days got the YouView box AND a new modem/router, the HG533.
In this brief review that I posted at the time,
http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,12502.msg235944.html#msg235944 I note that as part of the setup, TalkTalk increases your Signal/Noise Margin to improve reliablilty, with the downside being a reduction in line speed.
I also noted that there was a further drop in line synch speed when switching from my existing TalkTalk supplied DSL-2780 to the HG533.
Yesterday I upgraded the firmware on the HG533 from 1.13t to 1.14t and have found that this has improved the synch speeds somewhat.

Note that
all these measurements were taken whilst on the same profile (9db). I was previously on the 6db profile and could get 20/21K synch!
I've left the dates and times off, this data is where I've just noted the speed after a reboot for whatever reason. (The modem is usually left online 24/7)
The jump in synch speed has corresponded with an increase in the download speed, as measured by speedtest.net, so this seems to be a "real" improvement.
Obviously, 24 hours isn't very long to prove anything, but consitently every reboot has given me faster synch speeds than I was getting with the previous firmware.
If it's of use to anyone, the firmware for the TALKTALK HG533
ONLY is here

http://talktalkmembers.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=111, as some users have reported problems following an update to 1.14t, specifically being no longer able to access the router's configuration web interface!
