This is rather worring and Ive no doubt that it can and could be happening if you and the sales assistant arent alert at the time of transaction.
I see people using these contactless cards quite a few times and it really only takes a quick wave of the card in front of the machine. I can imagine if you have your purse in your other hand which contains a contactless card then it is possible that the wrong card could be debited.
I dont know what the exact distance required is for reading the card though.
I could be wrong, but dont think it would interfere with pacemakers any more than it would if using a tv remote control.

My credit card co are constantly nagging me to get a contactless card, but Ive refrained from doing so because I dont like the idea of mishaps such as the above.. or if I lose the card, someone being able to buy purchases before Ive noticed the card being mislaid.
I know contactless purchases are limited to £20, but there is an opportunity for thieves to go on a quick spending spree and possibly run up a few hundred quid if they time it right.
