Providers question 'neutral net'
« on: December 07, 2007, 02:50:53 PM »

Interesting article on the BBC today

Sign of the times  - Should there be a multi-speed internet?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7116929.stm

As broadband speeds get faster and the appetite for video services grows apace, bandwidth becomes an ever more precious commodity.

It would be nice if the IETF could make changes to the TCP protocols to make unattended peer-to-peer type applications behave more "fairly."

I heard that.

But as I feel we are fighting a losing battle because all they have to do is change their T&Cs and I don't see what we can really achieve, so mumms the word from me on this subject (being as it is the season of good-will etc )
