Thanks BE1

I am keeping fingers crossed here it stays at 30Mbps Down & 6.73 Up unless BT have changed there SNR profiles from 6db to 3db, if not then this speed increase won't last long  :-\

:fingers: for that

I'm still curious about that Retrain Reason 8000.

This is an "on the fly" resync - Retrain Reason 2:-
2012-10-6 21:55:52 Notice 104500 DSL activate succeed
2012-10-6 21:55:36 Notice 104500 DSL deactivate

This is a reboot - Retrain Reason 0:-
2012-10-3 17:39:26 Notice 0 admin login
2000-1-1 0:0:21 Notice 104500 DSL activate succeed
2000-1-1 0:0:17 Debug 104500 LAN1 up
2000-1-1 0:0:15 Debug 104500 LAN2 up
2000-1-1 0:0:14 Notice 1 System up
2000-1-1 0:0:3 Warning 10400 KLOB Pool 1 Initialized: 1048576 bytes <0x80300000 ... 0x80400000>
2012-10-3 17:37:6 Warning 104001 System reboot

Is there anything at all in your modem's own log to suggest what Retrain Reason 8000 might be?

Nope, nothing really standing out there.

Another of life's mysteries.
I couldn't find an explanation from googling either  :(

It looks as if your metallic pair, carrying the VDSL2 signal to/from the DSLAM, is susceptible to RFI during the hours of darkness. As long as the modem does not loose sync with the DSLAM, low SNRM is quite acceptable.

When I first started experimenting with an HG612 on a non-FTTC line, I witnessed the SNRM go into negative values on a couple of occasions. Both times the modem and MSAN remained in sync right down to -1.9 dB.  :o  It was only at -2.0 dB did the modem finally give up and "let go" of that session.

Cheers BC

I have not seen any negative db values min 0.9db max 2.4db, I know if  I was to re-sync the HG612 I'll lose the extra 3Megs and the snrm will go back to 6.0db.

Can I ask when the modem let go of that session ! what happened to the snr did it return to higher snrm ?

Never mind I had to change a wall socket in the Kitchen as plug from microwave has stuck in the socket and had to turn off our Electric, it never rains here it pours.

well guess what HG612 back to 6.1 snrm and speedtests of 24.7Mbps I am getting fed up with FTTC  :(at least with ADSL MAX even after powercuts & elecric maintenance the sync was stuck at 8124

Anyone want to buy a second hand 40/10 FTTC one carefull owner  :P

Well as you have already guessed -- and experienced -- when the modem "let go" and re-initiated sync with the MSAN, it did so at the configured target SNRM. That resulted in a loss of sync (& so throughput) speed. Thus when the "hours of darkness noise" ceased, the SNRM rose accordingly.

Burakkucat I am just gonna leave my FTTC in the fate of the MSAN  :( as I can't keep up with changes on my line, I thought it was fun at first and thought I had some control over how the HG612 sync'd but its becoming a chore & in reality I don't have any control here only a Window
into how FTTC DLM changes our Line rates.

Yes, indeed.

Might I suggest that you power off the router, then the modem and disconnect the latter from the VDSL2 before you retire to bed?

During the morning daylight hours, tomorrow, plug the modem into the VDSL2 and power it up. Once you have three solid green lights, then power up the router.

What ever you do, do not become obsessed with your connection -- otherwise there is a likelihood you will turn into a Bald_Eagle Mk II:D
