Updated some drivers,now Routerstats 6.8 borked.
« on: September 20, 2012, 12:28:48 PM »

The title says it all! Has anyone ideas as to what kind of driver is the likeliest culprit?
I have tried to reinstall from the existing zip on my computer.

I find it hard to believe that driver upgrades could cause this without having some other more serious effect. Can you still access the web interface of the router from a browser?

If you can log into the router's web page, then Routerstats should be able to as well if nothing else has changed. I can only think that perhaps something has changed in the Routerstats configuration. Your title didn't quite 'say it all' :)  Does Routerstats run but fail to show any data, or not run at all?

Its radio buttons work and display the appropriate screens, but nothing happens after the green go icon is pressed. On first sight the settings are as they were before the drivers' installation.

I'm struggling a bit to know what has caused this. I think what I would do next is delete RouterStats.ini (or rename it) then restart Routerstats and set it up from scratch again.

(Some people might refer to this as "grasping at straws".)

Perhaps rolling back and then updating the drivers and testing RS each time might be the desperate solution. Unless there's  a catch to that.:-\

I don't think it would do any harm.

Not being a user of BGW (Billy Gates Ware  :-X  ) I am unsure what to suggest.

Have you tried moving the configuration file to somewhere safe, removing, then re-installing RouterStats???

Im a bit confused to as to how this could have happened as routerstats is a standalone program rather than an install, so shouldnt really be affected by any update drivers.

Id try redownloading from the RS site and try setting up again..  making sure that the old config file has been renamed or deleted.   Due to the fact you can connect but not record would make me think its something to do with the configuration.. or perhaps the prog isnt keeping the telnet connection alive..  I too am clutching at straws because its hard to see whats going on :(

Well all drivers rolled back, sys res back to before RS installed, any traces in registry removed, RS reinstalled from fresh download.....and..... still no luck. Tried RS Lite which won't work either. Cue hysterical :D :'( followed by :comp:

:)

At least we can now say that the driver upgrades weren't responsible. I suppose you haven't upgraded the router firmware, or changed any of its settings, have you?

As mentioned above, if RS can connect, but cant record then perhaps the telnet session isnt being kept alive?   Im clutching at straws.

~ To check the telnet session time length (in seconds):

    {Administrator}=>env get var=SESSIONTIMEOUT

 ~ To set to never timeout:

    {Administrator}=>env set var=SESSIONTIMEOUT value=0

Dont forget to save.
