how do you know when your errors are high?
« on: April 23, 2012, 01:37:22 PM »

Iam trying to understand my error stats from DMT so I can determine if the amount of errors Iam receiving is normal or not.

I understand that CRC and ES are the ones to go by, but also Iam wondering if RScor and RSuncorr are worth looking at and comparing them to the RS value (how many of those RS codewords were corrected and not corrected and turning them into a percentage, e.g. how much in percent is RScorr and RSuncorr to RS (total)

how many CRC's or ES in an 'X' amount of time would be considered normal?
how much (in percent) of traffic (RS) that is corrected and uncorrected in 'X' amount of time would be considered normal?

also, why/how do we have upstream values for these errors when they are outgoing? I noticed the upload CRC one remains a 5840 (or is slowly climbing) in my router, and about 75% of upstream traffic (RS vs RScorr) is corrected..? doesnt make sense to me?

ive read the error stats page but it doesnt tell me what amounts would be considered normal..?

thanks in advance guys...
