BT Openreach ONTs for FTTP
« on: January 20, 2012, 04:51:07 AM »

For its FTTP service, BT Openreach currently have two CPE (customer premises equipment) ONTs (optical network terminals) available.

Just like the VDSL2 CPE modems for its FTTC service, the CPE ONTs are manufactured by Huawei and ECI.

The image attached (from a publicly available BT Openreach document [1]) shows both ONTs, side by side.

Do we have any members with a FTTP service?

Thank you for posting those very interesting pictures, DT3000. I suspect that Asbokid is already pouring over them with a magnifying glass and making comprehensive notes.

Indeed.  I'm wondering about chip markings.  What CPU is in it?  Presumably running Linux (what else?!)

cheers, a

Cant seem to take any closeup pics of the chips, my cameras not good enough. These are some of the labels on the chips.

Aha! Thanks for taking the time to find out.. It has shed a lot more light (pardon the pun)..

Photos below posted by Chinese kitizen miao_s to the forum mydigit.cn [1]

Hope it's okay to duplicate his/her images here.. You have to be registered with mydigit.cn to see the image attachments there..

The GPL'ed source code for the HG8240 released by BT Openreach indicates that the SD5113RBI is an ARM11 core from HiSilicon, the semiconductor arm of Huawei. The CPU is clocked at 530 MHz and has a DDR2 memory bus. [2] [3]

Ligent LTB34D3 EPON transceiver (1250Mbit/s up / 1250Mbit/s down) [4]

Zarlink LE88266 Dual Channel FXS 100V Wideband ABS VoicePortT [5]

EDIT: Also the board has an Atheros AR8316, a 6-port gigabit ethernet switch controller [6]

Thanks for posting the info, deathtrap3000!

cheers, a
