In the original folder most of the files remaining after clearance bu a duplicate fining application are kpg, but many are .rsc.tmp. Irfanview seems unable to accept the many files, except on at a time. So I can't run a batch convert

What may I be doing wrong, or is there a better program. Please?

Found they were visual duplicates of files in the folder, but lacking in EXIF data, so binned them.
