600 Linux users.......
« on: November 02, 2007, 05:50:28 PM »

Shame on anyone who says the BBC are out of touch with reality!

The Register is reporting that "The BBC's technology boss Ashley Highfield has provoked consternation" by claiming only 600-700 Linux users visit the BBC site each month :

Cue Eric..... :)

I'm afraid that my view is that the BBC are totally in thrall to Microsoft and wouldn't recognise a Linux system if it jumped up and bit them on the bum. As the article mentioned, a lot of Linux users configure their browsers to announce themselves as Internet Explorer because there are so many websites around which reject other browsers. But even if you discount this factor, the figure is obviously nonsense as shown by their own server records. Total muppets IMV.

Very disappointed with you, Eric, not rising to the bait! :(

I have to agree that the Beeb messageboards are a disgrace, performance-wise. I'm sure an open source system would serve us bette,r and save them money into the bargain.

The sad thing is that the BBC used to have a LOT of excellent network staff. Now they're clueless morons.
