Title: Disabling Driver Signing ??

Evening all,
                 I was wandering if there is anyway of disabling driver signing in windows vista SP1 so I can install atitools to sort out my gpu clocks :)

PS. I was wandering why vista thinks my graphics card is 256mb built in and 768mb shared  ??? Despite thefact that I have 256mb ddr2 = 512mb

When installing the program that you want to, I am assuming you are receiving the message that the driver is not recognized, so just click "accept"

256mb ddr2 = 512mb ?

No, 256MB ddr2 = 256MB RAM which is just quicker than DDR or DDR1
It does not double the size.

How much RAM is being shown on the "General page of System properties?

256mb but if i switch back to XP, XP shows up as 512mb

and about the unsigned drivers it seems there is no proven way to force vista to accept the unsigned drivers :( due to the way microsoft designed it and the makers of atitools are unwilling to pay the fee for M$ to sign and verify the drivers :(

Hit F8 at boot up and choose "Disable driver signature enforcement".  ;)

Edit: Or to do it from within Vista on a permanent basis (above needs to be done on every boot when it's needed):

Click Start, then in the Search box type "cmd". You will see an icon for the command prompt appear in the Programs section.
Move your cursor over this icon, click and hold down your right mouse button on it, drag it off onto the desktop, release the right mouse button, and select "Create Shortcut Here".
Now right click this new shortcut and click "Run as administrator". You will now be presented with a DOS window and command prompt.
At the prompt, type the following: "bcdedit -set loadoptions \”DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS” and press enter.
Notice there are 2 D's for disable, this is intentional.

Now reboot the PC and attempt to install the driver.

I've just tried both those commands but neither of them seem to work for atitools :( and its probably the only gpu oc tool that allows such detailed clock speed changes. I think I will have to go back to XP x64 until M$ learn their lesson  :no:

Are running Vista x64? If not that could be your answer ?

I am running Vista x64 Ultimate seriously considering going back to XP if I can't get Atitools going

I think I have fixed it for now atleast I used the ready driver plus method which does the F8 method automatically :D
